A night photographing the ‘Back To The Timepiece’ documentary event at LEAF on Bold Street was like being transported back to the 70’s!
The legendary Liverpool nightclub is the focus of a new documentary about the black music scene in the 1970s. I went a long to to take some images to feature in the film. Timepiece nightclub in Fleet Street was, at the time, the only club in the city to play black music. The music in Timepiece, championed by resident DJ Les Spaine, introduced young people to black American culture which influenced fashion on the streets of Liverpool.
Back To The Timepiece was made by Toxteth based Pigdin productions ands will be available to purchase in selected stores in April.
